The Creation Of Tuna
Today we have to reread "The creation of Tuna". We have to make a haiku about it. I am choosing to do it about the water and how fast it is. I did it on canva so its easier and pretty. Here is my haiku.
Samoa Umu
Today we had to watch a video about how to make a Umu. A Umu is from Samoa, its like a Hangi but above the ground. Here is the link to the video. The teacher gave us questions to answer, here are my answers.
A Umu is sort of a Hangi but above the ground.
A Umu is needed for food and to calibrate.
A Umu is for calibrations.
Traditional Samoa skills are taught by you, you have to watch and learn and listen to the quotes they give you.
A Hangi is similar to a Umu. I experienced it when I was at school and when I went to my Dads friends house
Bananas, taro, fish, octopus/mackerel, pig and coconut shells are cooked in a Umu

Haiku
Today in hurumanu 4 we had to make haiku poems. I choose to do them about season, Autumn and Winter. I was easy since I learnt this last year. Here is my haikus.
Autumn
The leafs fall slowly
Crack crunch as people walk
Leafs are not green
Winter
Cold fills the air
Snow falls slowly to the ground
Fire on for warmth

The Creation Of Tuna
Today We started a new Hurumanu, this hurumanu is about Art and Poems. We had to read "The Creation of Tuna". Here is a link if you want a pdf so you can read it. The Teacher gave us some questions to answer.
- What problem did Tuna o Runga I te Raki have? The sun was to hot and dry
- What does Tipua mean? I think it means Spirits
- What is a Hinaki? Its a thing to trap tuna/eels in.
- What type of animal is an tuna? Its a fish, eel
- Compera the art from the book and art from the video clip. What are some differences? The art from the video are way different to the book, and the art from the video are animated and not coloured like the book.
- Which art style did you prefer and why. I prefer the book art because it was more colour full and it matched the story more then the video art.
