Today we tried something new. We did spheros. It was new for me to do because I haven't done it before and I'm not good with robots. We did it in groups and my group was with Shelby and Felicity. We had to use a app called Sphero Edu. We used drive to move it around. We had to cut out pieces of paper for the obstacles we had to go through. Here is a photo

Letter To Mars Desert Research Station

Yesterday I finished my storyteller questions. Since I finished the questions I have to do the fast finish task. The fast finish is to write a letter to the Mars Desert Research Station. Here is my letter.

Dear Mars Desert Research Station.

I think i might be good at staying there because I have a lot of good ideas and I don't talk to my family much. I'm not good a socialising but I can still talk to people and have a good conversation. I am really good at making ideas as long as other people give me something to think about. I am a bit fast so if there is en emergency happening and we need to run I could get out fast. I am good at cleaning so if I am not doing anything I could clean the place.

Spheros On Mars

Today in science we have to answer some questions. We had to read some articles to help us answer the questions. The questions are about the Mars 2020 rover. Here are the answers.

1. The name is Atlas V/5.
2. Spirit and Curiosity are rovers on mars. Spirit is a rover on mars getting photos and even got some sighting of past water. Curiosity is a rover on mars getting photos and some samples.
3. Perseverance is now settling in for its seven-month interplanetary flight. The rover’s target: Jezero Crater, the site of an ancient crater lake and an erstwhile river delta that the rover will scour for signs of past Martian life.
4. It will have to go very slow and lightly to make it not be damaged.

Mars Rover Explanation Writing

For the past 2 weeks we had to do a explanation writing. We had to make a plan about what we are going to write about. After we did that we got onto making it. We had to do it about Mars and its rover. Explanation writing is a piece of writing that explains something to your in a paragraph and doesn't tell you what its about it says in the writing. Here is my work.

Did you know Mars has a Rover? A rover is a robot prototype made by NASA and SpaceX. A rover takes 8 years to build. A rover goes to planets and takes samples of the land and pictures. It takes about a year for the rover to get there depending on what planet it will go to. Rovers can have new technology that won't be out in a year. Some rovers have autopilot and high tech cameras. You need more than 100 people to make one rover. One rover cost 25$ Million dollars or more to make one.

A lot of things could go wrong in the mission. They could get their coucalcion wrong on the fuel and not have enough or there is a hole in the fuel tank and all of the fuel falls out. They could go to the wrong place and get their coordinates wrong and head into a black hole. It could go to fast and explode but if it has an escape pod the rover could go in that and make its way to the spacecraft in space. The escape pod could land in the city and make you feel more sick and sore from the hard landing.

Communication In Space

For the past week we were learning about Mars and Space communication. We had to create a animation that had answers to question we got given. The questions were:

1. What are some ways we communicate on earth? Pick 3
2. How do these forms of communication work, what do they rely on or use?
3. Why can nobody hear you shout in space? 
4. Is radio communication instant? Why/Why not? 
5. What does this mean for space missions from earth to mars?

Becoming A Martain

Yesterday we started the hurumanus we did in term 1. The hurumanu I am doing is hurumanu 3, Life on mars the second part of the hurumanu. We had to read a article called "Becoming A Martain". After we read the article. we got given some question to answer some questions about the article. Here are my answers.

1. A mission to Mars could happen in 2024 but that all could change with NAZA getting there cucalsions wrong and they don't have enough fuel or food to last the trip. Why could the mission happen, well it could happen if they get it right and the astronauts are trained really hard and know what to do if there's a dust storm and if they are starting to run out of food.
2. Two geological features of Mars: Mars is known for its colour and the colour is caused by large amounts of iron oxide. Other features include polar ice caps, Olympus Mons (the largest volcano in the solar system).
3. NASA has a machine called MOXIE, which uses electricity to split carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide and oxygen so they could take that to Mars but that means you might not be available to take more water or food.
4. There is water on Mars you just have look in the Valles Marineris Or canyons because Mars used to have lakes and rivers but because of all the dust storms it got all covered up.
5. They take as much food they can fit onto the spaceship which might last them 6 months. Every 6 months there should be a shuttle going up there to give them food but they have to drive to the specific spot.

Life On Mars - The Martian

In the first week of school in hurumanu my Teachers let us watch a movie the movie was called The Martian. Here are some big points about the movie in my opinion. Mark made a seed grow on Mars with his own poo. Mark got people to see photos on Earth. Mark found a Satellite. The crew found out he was alive. He made communication with people on Earth at NASA. He made himself iornman. Commander got Mark and bout him back in the Spaceship and back on Earth. He became a space teacher . Here is some of the Characters names are Mark, Nidey, Commander, Teddy, Rich, Zhu, Mindy, Ryoko, Chris, Beth, Melissa, Mitch, Rick, Vincent, Alex, Burce, Annie, Brendan, NASA psychologist.
