Writing

 For the past 3-5 weeks we have been doing writing. We have done lots of different types of writing. So far we have done around 9 different pieces of writing. They all have been different from the others. We also have gone outside with the teacher and she has read us some stories. All of the stories she read us have been different from the others. There are a few pieces of writing that I like. Here is one of the stories I like even though it is not finished. 

Setting: Mount Olympus
It was a calm day on the Mount. All of the demi-gods, goddesses and gods were doing something. Only the best demi-gods, goddesses and gods were on mount Olympus. All of the demi-gods were practising their powers and how it would be like in Asgard. Most of the goddesses were trying to make a new power or a new outfit for battle. Most of the gods and some of the goddesses were in the mountains hall. The reason why most of the gods and some goddesses were in them is that there were so many people intruding on Mount Olympus. Only the strongest gods and goddesses are allowed in the hall. They are trying to make a plan to close the border from Asgard and Gotham. 

Setting: Gotham
In Gotham, there were people trying to get to Mount Olympus except for Mario. Mario was practising his spells. Even though Mario isn’t a goddess or a demi, he still is treated the same. Most of the time he is helping the goddess and demi. He is known as the healer or the nicest person on Gotham. Hundreds of people come to Mario every day to get help from him. Most of the time the reason why all of the demis and goddesses are to get Mario to Mount Olympus. Sometimes the portal opens but not fully for anyone to get in. 

Setting: Gotham and soon it goes to Mount Olympus Sometimes it is big enough to fit a person but it only stays open for 3 seconds. It’s been a long time since that happened so it might happen sooner or later. Then it SUDDENLY happened…. IT OPENED. Mario was sad that he has to leave them but he knows it for the good. When Mario got through to the other side. Mario was stunned by what he can see. Soon after Mario processed what he can see he started walking up the mountain. Mario was still shocked made it to the mount.

Setting: Mount Olympus When Mario was walking up the mountain he started to feel uneasy so he looked behind him. Nothing was there so he continued walking up the mountain. Soon he felt more uneasy so he said one of his spells. The spell he said was to make him see anything that was invisible. After he said that spell he started running. While he was running he looked behind and saw a dragon. The dragon looks like it was made out of air. Then he realised that it was Annabeth’s dragon. 

Setting: Mount Olympus Annabeth is the goddess of air. She is one of the strongest goddesses. She is the 5th strongest goddess. There are only 20 of the strongest gods/goddesses. There are gods for all of the elements. The elements are air, weather, earth/nature, water, fire, light, music/sound, technology and more. There is a power of the key. Most people call the power of key and element even though it is not one. 

National Young Leaders Day

 Last week on Tuesday I went to National Young Leaders Day. National Young Leaders Day is all around New Zealand. The place it was at was Christchurch town hall. A group of ten people from that school I go to went. There were 4 people from Tieke, 3 people from Riroriro and 3 people from Mohua. The names of the people that went are Carla(writer), Dylan, Jade, Wiari, Sadie, Heath, Jazaky, Enzo, Sam and Finau. The teacher that went with us was Miss Tozer. Here are the names of the places that National Young Leaders Day happens. Auckland, Hamilton, Hawks Bay, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. I think that National Young Leaders Day is a good event to go to because you get to see people that have been leaders. The people that come are people that have been around the world and have been through tough times. The people that came were Cam Colkoen, Brook Neal. Shay Wright, Benny Tipene. We got a book that we could write in and have info about the event.

Novel Study - Fast Finish

 Last week in Wānanga since I finished my work for novel study I could do a fast finish task. The tasks we could do were making a Kahoot, do a q+a with a peer or 5 vocab words. The task I choose do we making a Kahoot. Even though my Kahoot is only 6 questions my teacher said it's fine. I don't really like my Kahoot but here is the link to the Kahoot. LINK

Te Ao Whanui - 3D Cat Armour

 Today in Te Ao Whanui the group I am in has to watch a video about critical thinking. Even though I watched the video and the teacher told us I still don't understand it. After we watched that video we have to read an article. We could choose from any but I choose to read about 3D cat armour.  This person makes armour for cats, the armour is black and it has spikes on the top, it also has a small piece of armour for the cats tail. After we read the article we have to answer some question. We get to choose what the questions are. Here are the answers.

People that benefit from this are cat lovers who want to see their own cats in cat armour.
They may be harmful to other cats when they try and hit that cat with the armour because they can hit the spikes.
I think that the strengths of the car armour are on the back because that's the probably thicker part. I think that the weakness is on the cattail and the head because they seem like they don't have much of the material.
I think that the most important thing is the back and head part because that's where other cats hit the most.
We could see this anywhere in the world.
I think that the parts that could be improved would be the tail and the head because there are parts that aren't necessary on it and there are parts that they could make better.
We will know we have succeeded when cats feel comfortable to wear the full amour without just falling over or trying to get it off them.
When this can cause a problem is when it hurts the cat.
People should know about this because they may want to see their cats wearing cool armour. We have allowed this to happen because there aren't really any problems with the cat armour, and it looks called.
This is similar to another armour for cats or other costumes for animals.
It can harm is other cats because of the spikes and sometimes humans when taking it off.

Novel Study - Chapter 12 - 15

 Last week I read 8 - 11 but since lots of people had overdue work, we didn't have any tasks. On Monday I read from chapter 12 - 15. After we read chapter 12 - 15 we had to answer some questions about what happened in the story. Here is the answers to the questions.

I think that it was good that Greg met the Chattertons because it's like they are another family to him.  Greg feels happier with them because they give him opiates that his family would probably not given him. The Chattertons give him food, money, a job and rally opiates. 
I think that they react like that because they don't want to spend money on something that he can buy but he doesn't have the money right now. They also might not want to buy it because it's not a streetcar. (What I mean by streetcar is that the car is a rally car). I can relate to this because when I ask for something they say that I don't need it. 
I think that it is bad that they give him constant criticism but it is a good thing that his mother is warming up to him. It is important to praise your kids because then they feel like they are wanted and that they are loved. If you don't praise your kids they might not feel love and they might not feel like they are needed in this world.
I think that is it good that William is sticking up for Greg because it means that he is trying to make his father warm up to him. I also think that William is pleased that he saved their lives. I think that it is good that she is supporting her son because I making him want to live his dream more. It is also good that she is supporting him because William is not supporting and he needs a parent/sibling to support him.
I am predicting that something is going to go wrong with the rally but then I also think that something good is going to happen with the rally.

Glasses.

Hair back.

Take of any lose clothes and stuff on writs.

Know where the fire extinguisher is.

Method:

1.Collect your equipment.

2.Put some water in tray.

3.Put some detergent.

4.Put on your safety glasses.

5. tie back any long hair.

6.Take off any jewellery.

7.Wash water on your arms up to your elbows.

8.Make bubbles in the water using the gas tap.

9.Lock your elbows.

10.Hold your hands together and scoop the bubbles.

Playing To Win Video Trailer

 For the past twos weeks we have been doing reading. Since some of our group finished our work early. We got to do a movie trailer. We finished it today. The characters we used were Alice, Todd, Denny, Clara. The people that were in the trailer were Ashton, Shanaya, Alexia. The characters that they were was Ashton as Alice, Shanaya as Todd, Alexia as Denny and I(Carla) was Clara. We used Kinemaster and Ibis paint to edit and make stuff for the trailer. It was easy to use Kinemaster because I have used it before and it is a easy and simple site to use. Here is our video.

Playing To Win - Chapter 8 - 9

Today we have reading. Our task this week is to do our normal discussion questions because there is no school on Friday. If this chapter there was a fight with Denny and Todd. Todd has been playing with Denny's car because hes jelly of him. There is a lot of drama going on with Denny and Todd. Here is our discussion questions and answers are. 

Denny has lots of responsibilities in his life; he helps his Mum with finances, has a job, he takes care of his sisters and is part of a team. Do you think these are reasonable responsibilities for a sixteen year old? Why or why not? I think this is to much for a sixteen year old to deal with in his life because he also has school to do. It is bad to put so much stuff on teens because it makes them stressed and they think it is there purity to do it.


What responsibilities do you have in your life? How do you manage them and make sure you are completing everything you are trusted to do? Think about what you do at school and at home or in your spare time.  For me I don't have much responsibilities at home or at school. I get my school work done in time and I don't need reminders to do it.

Denny feels pressured to drink at the party, but he still says no. Why do you think the boys were pressuring him? Why do you think it is important to stand up for your beliefs? What values do you think he was showing by saying no to underaged drinking? I think that they are pressuring him because they think he is a pussy and that because he is older enough he is allowed to drink. I think it is important to stand up for your beliefs because your beliefs might make you a better person and other people better. Denny is trying to be a better person the what the the boys want him to be. Denny used lots of values for them. The values he used respect, resilience and integrity.

Growth Mindset

For the past weeks in wānanga we have been doing growth mindset. Today I just finished it. We had to answer some questions and some definitions on some words. Here is my work.

World War 1

For the past week we had to create a DLO about the WW1. The DLO had the questions in it and the answers in it. It was cool to learn about the war because my great great Granddad was in world war ll. Here is the DLO.

Animal Cost

Today in hurumanu 6 we are learning what are the cost to get animal. We had to do it with a pear. My pear was Alexia. The animals were Turtle, Dog, Rat/Mouse, Cat, Rabbit/Guinea Pig and Fish. Whats on the slide is what the setup cost is. Here is my work.

Egg Drop Challenge

Today we had to do a egg drop. Egg drop is a challenge you do and you have to try and not make it break. We could of done it with groups. My group was with Leo, Shanaya, Casey. We did some much layers that the egg didn't break. The materials we used made the egg not break because it was soft and there was lots. The materials we used were fluff, bubble wrap, tape and newspaper.

100 Word Challange

Today in wānanga we had to do the hundred word challenge. It was hard to make it to a hundred words because I didn't know what to write it about but I still got it done. We could of chosen to do it about music or a photo or we could do both. I did the music. Here is the music video link and my work.

Today was a really bad day. My friends said they would come with me to the Museum to come and look at the war with me but instead they went and egged my house. I knowed that they were fake. I just don't know how to stop being friends with them. I still went to the Museum. Instead of going to the war part of the Museum I went to the space part. In the space part there was a room I went into. The room was calm, it had light hanging down the roof and calm music coming in.

Gavity

Today we are learning about Gravity. Gravity is a big part of our life. We had some question to answer. Some of the answers have to do with planets. Here are the answers.

1. No, not all the gravity is the same on the planets.

2. The more mass you have is more gravity you have.

3. On Jupiter I would feel like I am 70.2kg. On Mercury I would feel like I  am 11.3kg. 

4. You would collapse if your have a higher gravity. If you have a lower gravity you would jump higher and easy.

Needs And Wants

Last week on friday we learnt about Needs and Wants. We had to create a DLO about it. The DLO had to show us what we need and what we want.  We had to show what needs are and what wants are. Here is my DLO.

Get NZ Writing

On Monday we started a activity called "Book of the Road". Its an activity where you get an buddy school and you send you work to them. Our buddy class is St Peters School in Cambridge. we got a box that was sent from "School Kit" we got a really big peace of paper with some glitched word on it and some 3D classes and other stuff. Car Transport

Today we had to create a graph on our chrome book with the data we got last week when we went to the fence and got data of how much cars went pass us and what type Passenger, Transport (Big trucks) and Other. Here is my work. hope you like it. How did you conduct this statistical investigation?
