Preserving Meat

For the past weeks in Science we are learning to preserve meat. I choose vacuum sealing. We are learning this so we know how to make food last longer.

Aim - To learn how to preserve meat by dehydration.
Prediction - my prediction is that it will dehydrate quickly because we are keeping it in a closed place
Method - Vacuum sealing.
Equipment - Vacuum sealer/straw, Bag, Meat.
Process -

  1. Pick the bag for packing.
  2. once you have put the food in the vacuum bag, and set up the vacuum sealer.
  3. Turn the vacuum sealer on and place the edge of the package on the vacuum sealer
  4. While the machine seals the package, support the package bottom with your hand.
  5. When the meat is sealed in the bag. Now it is ready for storage 

Results - 
Discussion - What happens if you don't seal the meat/food properly? the food will go all moldy and bad. What do you do if you don't have a vacuum sealer? you can use a straw and suck all the air out.
