Drama

Today in drama we are writing a reflection about this term. We have to write about what we did and what we enjoyed. I learnt that melodrama is a genre. My favourite genre is mystery and adventure. I also learnt what clowning is.  At the start of the term, we learn about F.A.R.T.S. F stands for focus. A stands for action. R stands for role. T stands for tension. S stands for space. The most recent thing we learnt was different types of drama/theatre. The drama/theatre types we learnt were tragedy, melodrama, comedy, physical drama and epic drama. My favourite game that we played would be park bench.

1. Tragedy: I like tragedy because there are lots of stuff that happen. A tragedy movie is Romeo and Juliet.
2. Comedy: I like comedy because there are lots of funny stuff in their movies. A comedy movie is Deadpool.
3.  MeloDrama: I liked melodrama because there are different types of villains, heroes and victims. A MeloDrama movie is spiderman.

Here is a video of comedy:

Create A Game

Today in wānanga we got given three activities. We can choose what one we want to do. I choose to make a game. The game has to be created with two cones, a ball, and 5 minutes. We got to choose if we wanted to make the game with another person. I choose to make the game with my friend Alexia. It was Alexia's idea to make the game. Here are the instructions for the game.

Create a game activity
Partner - Carla

 . 2x cones

.  1x Ball

Closer Cone

1. Put the cones 2 - 1 meters apart and grab the ball.
2. The first team in line has to roll the ball in between the cones without touching the cones in the process.3. Each time the person gets the ball in between the cones, the cones will get closer and closer.4. Each team will have a 5-minute timer to do this and try to get more in between the cones.

Reflection - Week 9

Today in wānanga our teacher said we are reflecting on this week. We have done lots of stuff this term. There are 4 things we have to talk about. Here is what we have to talk about. One of the things we have to talk about is CARR values. I showed respect in art, I wasn't like other people in the class and was yelling and annoying the teacher. I showed achievement in maths, I finished what we were supposed to do. Most of the people in the class I am in were not close to finishing. I showed commitment by finishing all of my work. The next thing we have to talk about is how we are doing on Arts kete and whats is going on. For arts kete, I am in wooden games. We don't have enough time to make them wood because of covid so we are now doing them on paper. We are going to laminate the games. The group I am in we are making a memory match game. After we talk about arts kete we have to talk about how we managed this week. I think I did pretty good this week even though there were a few relievers. Even though there were lots of hiccups with other people I did a good job managing this week (the hiccups were not with me). After we talk about that we have to make a goal for the last week of the term. My goal for the last week of the term is to try and get 3/2 full CARR cards.

Art

For around the past 4 weeks, we have been looking at Henri Rousseau and jungle print. We first looked at Henri Rousseau and his art. When we were looking at Henri Rousseau we got given one of his art and we had to cut it out. We cut it to measure the foreground, middle ground and background. Later on, we looked at jungle print. For jungle print, we had to go to the printer and make a jungle with the stuff we had. We had to do 3 prints. After we did that we had to trace it onto baking paper. We had to trace all three of the prints we did. After we did the trace the teacher printed it out. The teacher printed it out 2 times. The reason why she printed it out 2 times is so that one of them is full of colour and the other one is the same as when it came out of the printer. After we did that we have to do a blog.

Sorry it is a bit blurry

Science - Neutralisation

Today in science we are looking at Neutralisation.

Aim: To look at the pH scale and neutralises acid and alkaline substances using a Univeral indicator.

Neutralisation experiment

Equipment:
1. Univeral indicator
2. 1 m HCI
3. 1 m NaOH
4. 4 test tubes
5. Test tubes rack
6. 2 plastic pipettes.

Method:

1. Take a test tube rack with 1 boiling tube at each end of the rack and 4 test tubes.
2. Half full the boiling tube at one with Sodium Hydroxide.
3. Half full the boiling tube at the other end with Hydrochloric acid.
4. Fill each test tube with 5 drops of Univeral indicator.
5. Using the pipettes you will add drops of acid or alkaline to the test tubes to make colours of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet.
6. Do not mix up the pipettes.

Challenge:
To use the acids and alkalines to make colours of the pH scale.

Out of the 6 test tubes, you should have the order of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet.

Once you have completed this you need to take a photo of your test tube rack.

Activity:
1. Make your own copy of the pH scale. On the paper provided make 14 boxes and colours them the correct colours according to the pH scale.

2. Make a drawing of the experiment from yesterday. Use the back of the paper with the pH scale. Label all of the equipment.

Conclusion:
For the challenge, the group I was in got all of the colours.

Parihaka

Today in Nga Tangata we are still looking at Parihaka. We have been looking at Parihaka since last week. We have to do some vocab. The vocab words are confiscate, Te whiti, Tohu, Peacefull protest, Te Raukura Feather. After we do the vocab we have to do flash cards. To do the flash card we get a piece of paper that has 4 puzzle pieces on it. On the puzzle pieces we put stuff from the flash card on it. When we are finished doing the flash cards we have to cut out the puzzle pieces to make a feather. After we do that we have to take a photo of the feather and make a blog about what we did today. Here is the vocab and a photo of the feather.

Confiscate: Taking someones stuff with authority.

Te Whiti: Te Whiti is a person and they were a leader.

Tohu: Tohu is a person and they were a leader.

Peaceful Protest: Peaceful protest is a protest without harming people.

Te Raukura Feather: Ta Raukura is a feather that means hope, faith, spiritual power.

Tongan Language Week

For the past week in wānanga, we have been looking at Tongan language week. The reason why we are doing it this week and not last week is because we didn't have enough time and the teachers didn't have anything for us to do. We have to make a slideshow with our work on it. Our teacher sent us a slideshow with what we have to do on it. Here is the work I did.

Litmus Paper

Today in science we are looking at litmus paper.

Litmus is a tree lichen fungi and is made into small paper strips or a liquid for testing acids or alkalines.

1. Blue litmus paper determines if something is acidic. It turns red in solutions with a pH less than 7.

2. Red litmus paper determines if something is alkaline. It turns blue in solutions with a pH greater than 7.

Litmus experiment:

Materials:
1. Red litmus paper
2. Blue litmus paper
3. Sodium hydroxide
4. Hydrochloric acid
5. pipette
6. 4 test tubes

Steps:
1. Rip the litmus paper in half and put half in each test tube.
2. Add 3 drops of hydrochloric acid to the red litmus paper in test tube 1.
3. Add 3 drops of hydrochloric acid in the blue litmus paper in test tube 2.
4. Add 3 drops of sodium hydroxide to the blue litmus paper in test tube 3.
5. Add 3 drops of sodium hydroxide to the red litmus paper in test tube 4.

Findings:

The blue litmus paper with hydrochloric acid went red
The red litmus paper with hydrochloric acid went didn't change
The red litmus paper with sodium hydroxide went blue. The water went yellow
The blue litmus paper with sodium hydroxide went didn't change.

Conclusion:
Blue litmus is an acidic
red litmus is alkaline.

Dogs - Puppies

For the past 2 and a half weeks, Me and my family have been looking after 7 puppies. The reason why we are looking after 7 puppies is because my 2 dogs had them. My dogs are chocolate labradors. One of my dogs is skinny, very tall and dopey. My other dog is big and small but fast. Since the puppies are 2 and a half weeks old they are starting to walk and most of them have their eyes open wide. All of the puppies are chocolate. There are 2 runts out of all of them. Here is a photo of the puppies.

Parihaka

Yesterday in Nga Tangata we started looking at Parihaka. We had to read 3 articles about Parihaka. We had to make a copy of a slideshow and do our work on there. Here is my work.

Science - Acids and Bases

Today in Science we are looking at acids and bases.

What makes something acid?
An acid contains Hydrogen atoms that break off to react with a substance.

What are 3 examples/names of acids:
Hydrochloric Acid
Sulfuric Acid
Nitric Acid
Citric Acid
Acetic Acid
Formic Acid
Carbonic Acid

What is an acid?

An acid (HA) is a solution that breaks into H+ and A-

Reading - MeMe & Me

Today in Wga we have time to do work that we did earlier in the week. The work I am doing is hurumanu. I read a story called MeMe & Me. In the story, the girl begged her parents for a phone and also did cleaning at her nan's house to get money. The girl's name is Nina. We have to answer some questions from the story.

The main points of the story are Nina gets a phone, she gets a friend called MeMe. MeMe is very rude to her. At the end, Nina gets trapped in the phone and MeMe is now in her body. MeMe looks like Nina.

MeMe is a person on the phone who looks like Nina. MeMe is a person who is friends with Nina. We think MeMe is a robot.

There is a possibility that this can happen in real life but I don't think it will. The reason why I think at it will not happen in real life is because there is lots of things that are like this already.

I don't know what the author is trying to tell us.
