4 Food Groups Meal Plan

On Monday we had to make a meal plan with Vegetables + Fruit - at least 3 servings of vege and 2 servings of fruit every day
Grain foods - 6 servings each day (check portion sizes)
Milk/Milk products - 2 servings
Legumes/Nuts/Seeds/Fish/Seafood/Eggs/Poultry/Meat etc. - 2 servings.

I found it hard to do it because the resource the teacher gave us was not helpful at all.
We are learning this so we get a health gut and food sources.

Here is my work

2 Weetbixs, Milk on the weetbixs,  Banana
Lunch
Nuts, 2 bread pieces strawberry
Snack

Water
How many servings per day?  2 liters/ 8 classes
How do you think you could fit these in besides just at meal times?
  • 200ml when you get up.
  • 500ml when you are watching something .
  • 1 liter when you are getting ready for a shower and when you're in the shower.
  • 300ml when you go to bed.

Informative DLO - Primary and Secondary sources

Last week we did a DLO about primary and secondary sources if we were done. It is important to know what primary and secondary sources are because if you didn't know the difference between primary and secondary you won't know what was written at the time and what was written years later. We could of made a DLO with a partner and my partner was Alexia. Here is Alexia's blog link. Here is the DLO

Six Photographs

Today we started hurumanu 1, hurumanu 1 is called "Who are we". In this hurunamu we do Social Science and Reading. We are learning to understand the importance of history. We had to read a book called "Six Photographs". In the book there are photo from 1874-1876, 1880s, 1897, 1888 and 1894. After we read the story we had to go onto a doc and copy it and put it in our hur 1 folder then fill it out. I learnt that in the olden days it would take 10 seconds to take one photo and if they moved there would be a blur. Here is the work form the doc I did and a photo from the book.

Becoming A Martain

Yesterday we started the hurumanus we did in term 1. The hurumanu I am doing is hurumanu 3, Life on mars the second part of the hurumanu. We had to read a article called "Becoming A Martain". After we read the article. we got given some question to answer some questions about the article. Here are my answers.

  1. A mission to Mars could happen in 2024 but that all could change with NAZA getting there cucalsions wrong and they don't have enough fuel or food to last the trip. Why could the mission happen, well it could happen if they get it right and the astronauts are trained really hard and know what to do if there's a dust storm and if they are starting to run out of food.
  2. Two geological features of Mars: Mars is known for its colour and the colour is caused by large amounts of iron oxide. Other features include polar ice caps, Olympus Mons (the largest volcano in the solar system).
  3. NASA has a machine called MOXIE, which uses electricity to split carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide and oxygen so they could take that to Mars but that means you might not be available to take more water or food.
  4. There is water on Mars you just have look in the Valles Marineris Or canyons because Mars used to have lakes and rivers but because of all the dust storms it got all covered up.
  5. They take as much food they can fit onto the spaceship which might last them 6 months. Every 6 months there should be a shuttle going up there to give them food but they have to drive to the specific spot.

Poetic Art - Hurumanu 4

For the past week we have been doing learning stories. What is a learning story? A learning story is a thing you do at school to reflect on your learning and so the teachers know that you have actually learnt something and not just sit there and pretend. We have been doing stuff about The Creation Of Tuna and The Taniwha And The Rakaia Gorge. We did a collage, diamante poem, haiku, watercolour and tapa cloth. We did the collage, watercolour and diamante poem/art about The Taniwha And The Rakaia Gorge. Please tell Me if there is something I could work on. Here is my learning story.

Paper Boy - Chapter 13-17

Yesterday I read chapter 13-17 from Paper Boy. The task to do is write a letter to the author. Include two thoughtful questions you could ask him. The author is named Vince Vawter. Here are the questions and letter.

Dear Vince Vawter,

How are you?

I loved the book you made called Paper Boy. I thought it was amazing and it really cool to read. I loved how you made it about your father and its a real story not a fake one. I have some questions for you here they are.

1. Why did you make the book about your father and not about you or your other family members?
2. Was your father around to tell you about his childhood when you were making the book?
3. Why did you add Mr Spiro into the story?
4. Was Mam  Little Mans sister or is she just are caregiver?
5. How long did it take you to make Paper Boy?
